Oral food challenges test for the presence or absence of food allergies. They are often used to confirm a food allergy if other testing methods, such as skin prick tests, are inconclusive.
Adults and children suspected of having food allergies based on inconclusive blood or skin tests. Symptoms of food allergies include hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, nausea, vomiting, or anaphylaxis after eating certain foods.

Meet with a provider to review your medical history. Your provider will determine if you are a good candidate for an Oral Food Challenge
Participate in an oral food challenge
Under medical supervision, consume increasing amounts of a suspected allergen to check for a reaction. If symptoms occur, the test is stopped and treated; if not, a food allergy is ruled out. Most reactions are mild and managed on-site
Discuss a treatment plan
If allergies are confirmed and you are eligible for treatment, your provider will create a personalized treatment plan for your food allergies
Get ongoing care and support
Check in with your care team regularly, either virtually or in-clinic, to track progress and adjust treatment if necessary
